Student Pomodoro Planner Calculator — How It Works

Student Pomodoro Planner Calculator — How It Works

Plans how many focused work sessions (pomodoros) fit into your available time.

How it works

  1. Enter the total time you have available, in minutes.
  2. Enter your work session length (default 25 minutes) and break length (default 5 minutes).
  3. The tool calculates how many full work-and-break cycles (“pomodoros”) fit into your available time, plus any leftover minutes.

Formula

Pomodoros = floor(Total minutes ÷ (Work minutes + Break minutes))
Leftover minutes = Total minutes mod (Work minutes + Break minutes)

Example

With 120 minutes available and the classic 25-minute work / 5-minute break cycle, you fit 4 full pomodoros (100 minutes of focused work, 20 minutes of breaks) with 0 minutes left over.

Why this matters

The Pomodoro Technique breaks work into focused intervals separated by short breaks, which can help maintain concentration and avoid burnout. Planning ahead helps you fit pomodoros into the time you actually have, like a free afternoon or a study block between classes.
