Baby Food Iron Calculator — How It Works

Baby Food Iron Calculator — How It Works

Calculates total iron content from servings and shows the percentage of the daily reference value.

How it works

  1. Enter the amount of iron per serving (in mg).
  2. Enter the number of servings you’re having.
  3. Enter (or leave at the default) the daily reference value for iron.
  4. The tool multiplies the per-serving amount by the number of servings to get the total, and shows what percentage of the daily reference value that represents.

Formula

Total iron = Amount per serving × Number of servings
% of daily reference = (Total ÷ Daily reference value) × 100

Example

2 servings at 100 mg each gives a total of 200 mg — 25% of an 18 mg daily reference value.

Notes

Daily reference values are general adult guidelines (commonly 18 mg for iron) and can vary by age, sex, pregnancy status, and health conditions. Check the nutrition label on your specific food or consult a registered dietitian for personalized targets.
