Preschool Lunch Box Nutrition Calculator — How It Works

Checks how a packed lunch’s calories compare against a daily lunch calorie target.

How it works

  1. Enter the estimated calories in the packed lunch.
  2. Enter the target calorie amount for a school lunch (a common range is 500–700 kcal).
  3. The tool calculates what percentage of the target the lunch provides, and how many calories remain in the budget.

Formula

Percent of target = (Lunch calories ÷ Target calories) × 100
Remaining = Target calories − Lunch calories

Example

A 450-calorie lunch against a 600-calorie target is 75% of the target, with 150 kcal remaining.

Notes

Target lunch calories vary by age, activity level, and overall daily nutrition needs — this is a general guide, not a substitute for advice from a pediatrician or nutritionist.
