How it works

  2. Enter the feeding rate as a percentage of body weight per day (commonly 2-3% for adult dogs and cats).
  3. Enter the size and cost of a typical bag of food.
  4. The tool calculates the daily food amount in grams, how many days a bag will last, and the cost per day.

Formula

Daily food (g) = Pet weight (kg) × 1000 × (Feeding rate % ÷ 100)
Days per bag = (Bag size (kg) × 1000) ÷ Daily food (g)
Cost per day = Bag cost ÷ Days per bag

Example

A 10 kg pet fed at 2.5% of body weight needs 250 g/day. A 10 kg bag costing $30 would last 40 days — about $0.75/day.
